Hillsborough County Public Schools Celebrate The Class Of 2022
COACH Foundation Hosts 10th Annual Hybrid Juneteenth Celebration
Hillsborough County Public Schools is proud of the Class of 2022 and sends our congratulations to each graduate for their hard work and dedication to reach this milestone.
Graduation ceremonies begin on Tuesday, May 17th for exceptional student centers and on Friday, May 20th for traditional high schools. All traditional high school ceremonies will be held at the Florida State Fairgrounds Expo Hall (4800 US-301, Tampa).
This year the district was able to increase the number of tickets to eight for each graduate ensuring more family members can cele- brate this momentous occa- sion for their senior. Those family members who are
unable to attend the cere- mony in person, can watch the entire graduation at https://hillsborough- schools.tv/
Our valedictorians and salutatorians worked tire- lessly to reach the top of their classes. We congratu- late 23 seniors who earned an 8.0 grade-point average or higher, 10 students are graduating with a 9.0 grade- point average or higher, and 2 students stand out with a 10.0 GPA or higher. Dylan Mazard, valedictorian from Gaither High School, is graduating with an astound- ing weighted GPA of 11.84.
“I want to congratulate our phenomenal graduates – a unique and resilient group of students who have banded together to over-
come incredible adversity, only to emerge stronger with an even brighter future ahead. Our seniors have col- lectively earned millions of dollars in scholarships, been accepted to universities and colleges across the country, earned the honor of admit- tance to military academies, or have been hired to begin an exciting new career right after graduation. It has been an amazing journey and they should feel proud of what they have accom- plished. I thank our teach- ers, administrators, and support staff for preparing our graduates to continue their journey as lifelong learners,” said Superin- tendent Addison Davis, Hillsborough County Public Schools.
Reverend Willie G. Dixon, Founder and CEO of COACH Foundation, Inc., has hosted an annual Juneteenth Celebration since 2012, after realizing many Tampa com- munity members were un-

For the past five years, the Tampa Bay Juneteenth Coali- tion, Ed Adams, The 100 Black Men, and COACH es- tablished a partnership to conduct Juneteenth activities for the entire month of June, in the Tampa Bay area.
Reverend Dixon pro- claims, "The history of June- teenth is an integral part of American history and should be taught in all grade schools and colleges. COACH is proud to be in partnership with other groups having ex- traordinary events to spread the word and history of June- teenth.” Over 2,000 people attended the event held virtu- ally in 2021.
Due to the spread of COVID-19, the COACH Foun- dation is presenting a hybrid event online and in-person with limited seating of 150 people, at Charles Davis Con- ference Center, 1002 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Tampa, FL. The 2021 theme is Celebrating the Voices of Tampa’s Black Women. The event will take place on Satur- day, June 18 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 p. m.
The historic event will in- clude free refreshments by Archie Williams and Family, as well as music and prizes.
