Local Mayor Buckhorn Announces Parks To Double
Memorial To Honor Life Of Woman Who Died Suddenly
On February 21st at New Be- ginnings Church, 2208 East Columbus Drive, a memorial service to honor the late Sharon Brown will be held at 11a.m.
Ms. Brown, a native of Arkansas, passed away unex- pectedly earlier this month.
In God’s Hands Ministry, Pastors Arnell George and George Lane, Yes You Can Ministry, and Pastor Gloria Williams have united to give Ms. Brown a memorial serv- ice in honor of her service to the ministry, and community in- volvement.
Everyone is welcome to come fellowship with friends and family members as honor is given to Ms. Brown, a great woman of God.

USF Coach Leaves For Notre Dame
Summer Programming
On Tuesday, six days be- fore the start of spring prac- tice, the University of South Florida’s football program was shocked when newly signed running backs coach, Autry Denson, would be leaving for the same position under Brian Kelly at Notre Dame, his alma mater. The
departure has not been offi- cially confirmed by either school.
Denson was hired Janu- ary 12th to replace Telly Lockette. He was prepared to take over a rushing unit that features D’Ernest Johnson and Marlon Mack.
Triples scholarships to allow more youth to participate in new programming

announced Wednesday that the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department will double the available summer programming during sum- mer 2015 and will provide triple the number of scholar- ships available. The in- creased programming and funding for scholarships will get more youth off the streets and actively engaged in activ- ities in our community.
“For kids, summer is all about being able to enjoy new experiences. This year, more kids will have the opportunity to take part, learn new skills, and do so in a safe environ- ment,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn.
Scholarships Available
In total, more than 7,400 children will participate in a summer program in 2015 compared to 4,700 in 2014.
Traditional summer camp programming, which will be available this year at 26 sites throughout the city, will con- tinue to cost $80 for 10 weeks of programming.
Scholarships are available for both traditional camps as well as specialty camps. Fam- ilies are also eligible to receive scholarship funding for more than one child. To apply for a scholarship, please visit www.tampagov.net/parksan- drec or call 813-274-3345.
