8-Year-Old Gunshot Victim Released From Hospital

Last Wednesday, an 8-year-old child injured by gunfire was re- leased from the hospital. His fa- ther allegedly shot JJ and his sister, Jayla, 5, several times in the head. Jayla, died as a result of her injuries.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the shoot- ing took place at a residence in the 13000 block of Heritage Club Drive, on Monday, August 29th, around 10 p. m.
When deputies arrived at the residence, they located two young children with injuries. Both chil-
dren were rushed to Tampa Gen- eral Hospital. The 5-year-old vic- tim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Bond Set For Father Jermaine Bass, 30, was ar- rested and charged with first-de- gree, premeditated murder with a firearm in the death of his daugh- ter; attempted murder in the first- degree, premeditated with a firearm, and aggravated child abuse with a firearm causing crit-
ical injuries.
Last Friday, a Hillsborough
County judge set his bond at $2.5 million. He remains in the Hills- borough County Jail.
