NFL Top Draft Choice’s Mom Gets Gig On ESPN
NFL top draft choice, New York Giant Eli Apple with his mom, Ms. Annie Apple.
Annie Apple could not be more proud of her boy: Eli Apple, was drafted to the New York Giants as the 10th overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft in April.
But last Monday, Eli got some good news about his mom as he was finishing up his first day of team activities on Monday. ESPN announced that his mother would be join- ing its Sunday NFL Count- down pregame show as a contributor, based on both her prolific social media profile and her personality.
Ms. Apple first began to hone her writing chops on her lifestyle blog, SurvivinAmer- ica, which tackles everything from “How to have those awk-
ward sex convos with your adult sons” to “free” advice for NFL Draft picks: “Don’t be av- erage.”
At the top of May, Annie wrote a column on the draft for Sports Illustrated (“From redshirt to red carpet: Eli Apple’s mom on her son’s journey to the NFL”) and in it, said she forbade her son wear the free jewelry that had been offered him on draft day. “I told him, ‘Dude, you’re an un- employed college dropout. YouwillnotbeonTVwitha Rolex.’ ”
Shortly thereafter, she ap- peared on ESPN’s His and Hers and continued to im- press. The rest, as they say, is history.
Ex-NFL Star RB Ricky Williams To Open Cannabis-Friendly Gym
RICKY WILLIAMS
Ricky Williams, the one-time professional athlete feels so strongly about marijuana and its benefits that he plans to open the world’s very first cannabis- friendly gym in San Francisco this November.
Williams, who many football fans know as a stellar running back and winner of the 1998 Heis- man trophy, has been a long-time advocate and smoker of buds. He has admitted that he has suffered from social anxiety disorder, avoidance disorder, and border- line personality disorder, and that marijuana was “10 times better for me than Paxil.” Williams was actually a spokesperson for Paxil at one time.
Williams reportedly is part- nering on the gym with Jim McAlpine, founder of 420 Games, which hosts athletic com- petitions for potheads nationwide including triathlons, mountain bike races, golf tournaments, and its signature 4.20-mile run.

A Dallas resident told police he heard someone enter his apartment by kicking open the front door, police spokesman DeMarquis Black said in a statement. The resident said “he called out to the individ- ual, but was not answered,” and when the resident’s bed- room door was kicked open, the resident fired his gun, po- lice said.
Dejean-Jones collapsed in the breezeway, police said. He was transported to a local hos- pital, where he died from his injuries, Black said.
