The MCU is making an ex- tremely wise move casting Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok. She will be one of few women of color with a significant role in the collective thus far – a prob- lem that Marvel seems to be working to correct.
The original Valkyrie that we know is not a Black woman, but it looks like the opportunity was extended to Thompson to make a change.
Valkyrie first appeared in 1970’s The Avengers #83 and she was only meant to be a dis- guise for another character named Enchantress.
This character has a ton of powers ranging from the com- mon place superhuman strength, speed, durability, re- generative healing, teleporta- tion, and a special power to sense danger and death. She

Misdemeanor marijuana pos- session charges against Chicago rapper Twista and two others also arrested in northwestern Indiana in March have been dropped.
The (Munster) Times reported Tuesday that Porter County Prosecutor Brian Gensel says the charges were dropped when the vehicle’s driver admitted it was his marijuana and pleaded guilty.
The arrests happened while Twista, whose legal name is Carl Mitchell, and others were headed to a show in South Haven.
