 HART Finance Team Praised For Its Work; Gets 5th Distinguished Award
  HART Finance Team
 The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) is once again the recipient of the Government Finance Officers Associa- tion of the United States and Canada (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its FY2016 Compre- hensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
For the fifth consecutive year, HART has been recognized for its outstanding achieve- ments in financial accounting by the GFOA. This award is the highest form of recognition for financial accounting, and it represents a
significant accomplishment by the HART Fi- nance Team.
In order to be awarded this achievement, a government unit must meet the high stan- dards of the program including demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
HART Chief Executive Officer is Katharine Eagan, and HART Chief Finan- cial Officer is Jeff Seward.

 Community College Selected As Fellow Of Lakin Institute

Dr. Keith Berry, Dean of Academic Affairs at Hills- borough Community Col- lege, was named one of 14 fellows with the Thomas Lakin Institute for Mentored Leadership (Lakin Insti- tute). The Presidents’ Round Table (PRT), a national as- sociation dedicated to sup- porting African-American leaders and students in com- munity colleges, presents
the Lakin Institute annually. Hosted October 15-20, 2017 in Baltimore, Mary- land, the Lakin Institute seeks African-American par- ticipants whose experience and credentials indicate they are ready to attain the high- est academic positions. The program is an opportunity for open dialogue with chan- cellors, presidents, and CEOs. It covers all aspects of
academic leadership.
Dr. Berry, a resident of
Tampa, is responsible for managing the Academic transfer programs at the Ybor City Campus. Previ- ously, he held the position of Professor of History at the Dale Mabry Campus for nearly twenty years.
Dr. Berry is a 1987 graduate of Florida A&M University, who holds a M. A., and Ph.D. from Florida State University.
