Student Arrested In Shooting Death Near Tampa Park
On Tuesday night Tampa Police arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a young man Saturday night near Tampa Park Apartments.
At 6 p. m. Saturday, Je- remy ‘Red Man’ Williams, 25, was shot near the corner of Scott Street and Estelle near the Tampa Park Apart- ments. He was hospitalized in critical condition, and on Sun- day morning, he was pro- nounced dead. Because he was an organ donor, he was kept on life support until his remains were picked up by Gude’s Funeral Home.
According to Tampa Police, an Instagram video helped them arrest Sheldon An- thony Fullwood, 17, who is a junior at Wharton High School, and charge him with second-degree murder involv- ing a firearm. He was arrested at his home.
Detectives said Fullwood fired into a group of people for an unknown reason, fatally in- juring Williams. Because of the ongoing investigation, de- tectives would not verify if any future arrests will be made or if Fullwood acted alone in the offense.
It was reported that Full- wood was seen leaving the area after the shooting in a ve- hicle with at least three other people inside.

Williams was reportedly standing at the top of a flight of stairs talking to a friend. After the gunshot was heard, he was seen tumbling down the steps. Several witnesses reported seeing the man in the red shirt running from the scene with a gun in his hand.
Jeremy’s grandmother, Ms. Margaret O’Neal said her grandson was a quiet, unassuming young man who would rather take the role of peacemaker than get involved in any disputes.
“He was a humble young man with a daughter he was looking forward to spending a

lot of time with.
“I raised him from the time
he left the hospital. I always gave him encouraging words, and I told him I wasn’t com- fortable with him visiting the Tampa Park area.
“I lived in Tampa Park for a number of years with Je- remy, and that’s why he would return to the complex on occasion.”
“His daughter will turn 4 in December. His sisters, Quana, Amber, and Mikeisha loved him dearly, and are in shock over what happened. I practically raised all of them.”
Ms. O’Neal said Jeremy knew he had a prayer-filled family, and he spent a lot of time with his uncles and other
members of the family. “Jeremy never left my
side. That’s why this is so painful to me. He was not dis- obedient and always listened when I tried giving him ad- vice. It’s truly a tragedy for him to die that way.”
Ms. O’Neal said the family feels better now that an arrest has been made in Jeremy’s death, and they also are pray- ing for that young man.
“The information we’ve been getting from police is a bit sketchy right now, but we pray everything will come out right.
“We held a prayer vigil Sun- day in his honor, and the com- munity has really shown us a lot of love.”
“God is in control, and we all hope this will draw the rest of the family closer.”
Tampa Park residents, old and new have grown tired of the drive-by shootings stem- ming from old feuds and hap- pening at the corner business.
According to one resident he said he saw the guys park and walk over to where Je- remy was. The suspect al- legedly got the gloves and the gun from the person driving the car, which allegedly was Fullwood’s uncle.
The witness said the sus- pect was walking back and forth before the shooting.
According to police, one shot was fired from 150 feet away striking Williams in the back of the head.
The residents held a vigil Tuesday after learning that Williams had been taken off the machine.
“Another ‘Super Bowler’ shot for no reason,” said one resident who grew up in Tampa Park and played sports with Williams.
Tampa Park owners as well as some Ybor business owners have met with Tampa Police and asked that the plaza on 7th Avenue and Scott Street be shutdown. The reason for the request is the guys that hang out there don’t live in Tampa Park or work in Ybor.
Maj. Rocky Ratliff and Capt. Yvette Flynn have met on numerous occasions with Tampa Park owners and managers about the guys hanging out.
“It was our fear that some- one would die,” said Tampa Park Manager, Yolanda An- thony.
“The fact that Jeremy ‘Red Man’ grew up in Tampa Park, and was friends with Wayne Lanier, who was fa- tally shot at a club a few years ago allegedly involving the same feud, is the real tragedy. They were known as the ‘Super Bowlers.’
