Public Schools, HCC Get Grants For Apprenticeship
  Programs
The Tampa Bay community and technical colleges received $2.8 million from the state to expand apprenticeship and pre- apprenticeship programs.
If you are a student in Hills- borough County Public Schools or Hillsborough Community College, and you have an inter- est in either of these programs – culinary, construction and de- sign, teaching, electrical and carpentry, there may be an op- portunity for you to become part of a pre-apprentice or appren- ticeship program.
Several grants have been re- ceived over the past 2 years in the region to expand these pro- grams. Hillsborough County Public Schools has received $1.2 million, while Hillsborough Community College has re- ceived $1,575,000. Both will also receive part of a $1o million grant.
Also receiving funding in this region were: Pasco-Her- nando State College, $956,346; and Pinellas Technical College, $276,220.
The programs train qualified employees to increase potential talent pools. Jobs can be filled immediately upon students’ completion of the program.
