Tampa Airport Project Attracts 100 Minority Sub-Contractors
Tampa International Air- port’s Communications Man- ager, Danny Valentine, said they have committed in excess of $120 million to W/MBE (Women/Minority Business Enterprise) contractors in the $953 million expansion proj- ect.
“We don’t track specific numbers as it pertains to race, but we do have 100 W/MBE sub-contractors involved in the project. Of the $120 earmarked for the W/MBE participants, we’ve already committed $49 million.
“We have more than 4,000 construction workers partici- pating in the project, and there will be a lot of permanent jobs generated from the expansion project because of all the differ- ent projects going on.”
Valentine said he’s also happy to announce that a con- cessions job fair held Tuesday attracted more than 400 peo- ple for 125 positions.

“We have a lot of new con- cessions coming to the airport, and we have more job fairs planned for the future.”
Valentine said he is aware that there have been com- plaints that the bidding process wasn’t done fairly, and that issue will be resolved.
“The concessions receiving and distribution center is fin- ished and ready to open.
“We are on schedule with all of the projects, and we’re happy to have so many local companies working on this project.”
Tampa Entrepreneur To Keynote The Million Dollar Round Table In Hong Kong
Fifteen years ago Tampa native Delatorro L. Mc- Neal, II, embarked upon a lifelong dream to become a successful motivational speaker. This year marks 13 years that McNeal has been full-time as peak performance expert, renowned keynote speaker, and best-selling au- thor. He has delivered over 4,000 presentations in 49 of the 50 states in the U. S. and abroad.
On January 29th, McNeal will be thrust on the interna- tional scene in a much greater way, as he will be the Keynote Speaker at The Million Dollar Round Table Experience and Global Conference in Hong Kong, China.
Founded in 1927, the Mil- lion Dollar Round Table (MDRT), the premiere associ- ation of financial profession- als, is a global, independent association of more than 42,000 of the world’s leading life insurance and financial services professionals from more than 470 companies in 71 countries around the world.

Platform keynote speaker on Friday, January 29th and he will be addressing 8,500 peo- ple in the Hong Kong Conven- tion Center. This is a repeat booking for McNeal with The Million Dollar Round Table.
“The MDRT stage is easily one of the most coveted stages to be requested to speak. However, to be invited back a 2nd time within 1 year is an honor that fewer than 1% of professional speakers can
claim as an achievement. So I am very honored and excited,” McNeal says.
McNeal is the only African American presenter who will be speaking on the Main Platform at MDRT Ex- perience 2016. “I’m honored to be able to have a message that allows me to represent African American people with excellence and dignity,” Mc- Neal says.
Of the 8,500+ profession- als in attendance, less than 10% will be from the United States, making this audience the largest and most interna- tionally diverse audience Mc- Neal has ever presented to. His presentation will be si- multaneously translated into 10 different Asian languages as he is delivering it.
“While God has blessed me to do some international work already, this event is going to open huge international doors for my speaking career, and I can’t be more excited. God is so good and so faithful, and I give Him all the glory and praise for opening this door for me,” McNeal says.
Instructors Needed For Arts Council Music Program
BY LEON B. CREWS Sentinel Staff Writer
The Children’s Home has provided a safe haven for abused, abandoned, and neg- lected children since 1892.
The Children’s Home works within the family for placement or, if necessary, outside of it, to find tempo- rary foster homes and even permanent adoptive families.
A chapel at the Children’s Home has been converted for music lessons, and thanks to the Arts Council, more than enough instruments have been donated for the children.
Frank Massaro, Direc- tor of Developmental Opera- tions at the Children’s Home, said what’s needed right now are music instructors.
“The beauty of the instru- ments that were donated through the Arts Council is they can remain at this facil-
ity.
“The problem is the les-
sons are only for 12 weeks, so we are searching for music in- struction volunteers to extend the lessons.”
Massaro said continuing the lessons are their biggest challenge, and if they can get music instructors to volunteer their time, or if they can get enough donations to pay in- structors, they would be able to extend the lessons.
“All donations will be specifically earmarked for use in only that part of the pro- gram.
“Thanks to the Arts Coun- cil and a liaison from the Chil- dren’s Home, 30-to-40 kids ranging in age from 7-to-17 can now learn to play an in- strument.”
Massaro said lessons are only held on Monday after- noons, and for donations, please text Serve to 41444.
