Hundreds Line Parade Route On King Holiday
It was chilly, but the sun shined brightly when the floats, bands, and walkers took to the streets on Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. Hundreds were on the side- lines to watch, while the children (and adults) waited for beads. (Photographs by Julia Jackson and Frederick Harris)
Dr. Paulette Walker, Past National President, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., was one of the 2 Grand Marshals for the parade.
Atty. Carolyn House Stewart, (center) Past International President, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., was the other Grand Marshal. She was driven by Sandra Myers and accompanied by Elaine Bryant.
Howard Harris, co- chairperson of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Pa- rade Foundation, getting parade participants in line.
Robert Scott, Jr. is co-chairperson of the Parade Foundation.
Oriental Fish Market owner, Marvin Knight is a regular supporter of the parade.
The Buffalo Soldiers represented with a float.
Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church youth participated in the parade.
Grand Krewe Libertalia had a float in the parade.
Members of the Order Of Eastern Stars also walked the parade route.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister and Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn supported the event.
Funeral home co-owner and candidate for City Coun- cil, Jeffrey Rhodes participated in the parade.
Daughter and mom, Mona and Mae
Judge were captured along the parade
route. Miss Juneteenth and her court rode on a float.
