Tampa Man Dies After Falling From Tree

World’s Oldest Person Dies In Jamaica
A 61-year-old man died after falling from a tree. The accident occurred last Thursday.
According to the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Office, John Knight, of 5704 Puritan Road, was cut- ting a branch from a tree at his residence shortly before 3 p.m. At some point, the branch struck him and
knocked him off of the lad- der.
Knight fell and landed on the ground approxi- mately 25 feet below. The Hillsborough County Fire Department responded to the scene, but was unable to save Knight. He was pro- nounced dead at 3:19 p.m.
His death has been ruled as accidental.
Her reign as the world’s oldest person did not last long; but her life – well, that’s a whole ’nother story.
Violet Moss (also spelled Mosse) Brown, af- fectionately known as Aunt V, has died at at 117 years old in Jamaica, after being named the world’s oldest person in April.
The Jamaican Prime minister announced her death on Twitter on Friday. Moss Brown, who was born on March 10, 1900, grabbed the Guinness World Record following the death of previous record-holder Emma Morano, of Italy, who died at the very same age.

Woman Hit Crossing Highway In Critical Condition
“I eat everything,” she said, “except pork and chicken. And I don’t drink rum and them things.”
A devout Christian Moss Brown reportedly has been in church since she was a child, and was the organist for more than 80 years.
One of her children, Rus- sell Brown, 85, said his mother didn’t look well on
Saturday and was taken to a doctor who said she was de- hydrated.
Less than a week later, she died at Fairview Medical Centre in Montego Bay, St. James Parish, on Friday af- ternoon, after being trans- ported there from Duanvile, Jamacia, where her family has lived for more than 200 years.
A 63-year-old woman was admitted to a local hos- pital after being struck by a vehicle Saturday morning. The accident took place at U. S. 41 and Shell Point Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Ms. Loretta Gallegos Handy, of Pompano Beach, was crossing U. S. Highway 41, at approximately 11:45 a.m., when she was struck by a 1998 Dodge Dakota, driven by Alan C. Nesbitt, 16, of
Apollo Beach.
Investigators said Ms.
Gallegos Handy was in a marked crosswalk at the time Nesbitt was report- edly attempting to make a left hand turn and struck her.
Ms. Gallegos Handy
was transported to Tampa General Hospital and ad- mitted in critical condition.
The investigation into the accident is continuing and charges are pending, police said.
