Sen. Darryl Rouson To Discuss State Budget, Legislative Session At July 21st Lunch Meeting
A Celebration Of Freedom To Honor James E. Tokley
The Thirteenth Judicial Cir- cuit is hosting “A Celebration of Freedom” to honor Tampa’s first official Poet Laureate, James E. Tokley, Sr.
The event will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017, 10 a. m. at the George Edgecomb Court- house, 800 E. Twiggs St. (6th Floor).
Tokley became the City of Tampa’s first official Poet Lau- reate in January of 1996. He be- came Hillsborough County’s first official Poet Laureate in
2012 He has become a regular contributor to the arts scene, both locally and nationally.
In addition, Tokley has served as inaugural poet for Mayors Dick Greco, Pam Iorio, and for Governor Charlie Crist.
He is an educator, orator, actor, musician, poet, journal- ist, and historian. Tokley is also a human resource trainer and curriculum specialist for Tokley and Associates, a busi- ness he co-owns with his wife,

A father and grandfather, Tokley is a member of the Sen- tinel Editorial Board, Trinity CME Church and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
