Rape On New Year’s Eve
A day after Bill Cosby was arrested on charges of aggra- vated indecent assault, the 78- year-old broke his silence, tweeting a message of thanks to his 4.1 million Twitter fol- lowers.
“Friends and fans, Thank you,” the message read.
Cosby, who was arraigned the day before on charges stemming from a 2004 inci- dent, was released on $1 mil- lion bail after a short court appearance. He is expected back in court for a hearing Jan. 14.
Former Temple University employee Andrea Constand says the iconic comedian drugged and assaulted her more than 11 years ago. Cosby’s lawyer, who called the charges “unjustified,” told ABC News he vows to fight to clear the entertainer’s name.
“The charge by the Mont- gomery County District Attor- ney’s office came as no surprise, filed 12 years after the alleged incident and com- ing on the heels of a hotly con- tested election for this county’s DA during which this case was made the focal point,” said at- torney Monique Pressley. “Make no mistake, we intend to mount a vigorous defense
against this unjustified charge and we expect that Mr. Cosby will be exonerated by a court of law.”
Constand said in 2005 that after she and Cosby be- came friends he invited her to his home in Pennsylvania, where he made multiple sex- ual advances over time. She said that on one occasion in 2004, he gave her pills and wine, which made her unre- sponsive and unable to move, allegedly enabling him to sex- ually assault her.
Cosby and Constand eventually settled out of court for an undisclosed amount, but the district attorney in Montgomery County at the time decided not to press criminal charges. The settle- ment did not include an ad- mission of guilt.
The new second-degree felony charges came after U.S. District Judge Eduardo Ro- breno unsealed Cosby’s dep- osition, revealing his admission that he gave the drug Quaaludes to women he intended to have sex with, ABC News reports.
Constand is one of 50 women who have come for- ward accusing Cosby of sex- ual misconduct.
R&B singer and daughter of the late Nat King Cole, Na- talie Cole, has passed away Dec. 31 at the age of 65.
Her publicist Maureen O’Connor broke the news to the Associated Press, telling the news outlet the passing was due to congestive heart failure. Cole had struggled with a variety of health issues in recent years, including hep- atitis C which is linked to drug abuse early in her life and ca- reer.
Cole won nine Grammy Awards, and is known for hits such as 1975’s “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)” and 1991’s “Unforgettable,” a vir- tual duet with her late father from the album “Unforget- table ... With Love” which spent five weeks at No. 1 and sold 14 million copies world- wide.
Cole starred as herself in the 2001 made-for-TV movie “Livin’ For Love: The Natalie Cole Story,” a biopic based off of her two memoirs. She re-

ceived a kidney in 2009 from an anonymous donor after hepatitis C forced her into dialysis, and became a spokesperson for the Univer- sity Kidney Research Organi- zation.
Her last performance was in June 2014, when Cole per- formed at the Apollo Theater’s 80th birthday celebration.
Nicki Minaj and her brother celebrate holidays with family.
Her brother Jelani Maraj is accused of raping a 12-year old girl, but the charges levied against him are not stopping sister Nicki Minaj from standing in solidarity with him.
Nicki posted an image on so- cial media captioned “Bowling con mi familia.”
Minaj reportedly helped her brother by giving him the $100,000 bail payment to get him out jail on bail.
Maraj was charged with first-degree rape and first-de- gree sexual conduct on Decem- ber 1. Maraj was married over the summer and the pop rapper paid for it.
Maraj has pleaded not guilty in the case that could get him a lengthy prison term.
