Hillsborough County Property Owners To Receive Annual Notice Of Proposed Taxes
The office of Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Bob Henriquez will be mailing all property owners their Notice of Proposed Property Taxes (also known as a “Truth in Millage” or “TRIM notice) this month. The notice includes impor- tant information about indi- vidual properties including:
• The property’s assessed value as of Jan. 1, 2022
• Exemptions, if any, ap- plied to the property
• The proposed taxes cal- culated using the taxing au- thorities’ proposed millage rates
• The dates, times, and venues of budget hearings for each of the various taxing au- thorities
The notice being mailed is not a bill. Rather, it is an esti- mate of ad valorem taxes based on the proposed mill- age rates, a property’s value, and exemptions. The Hills- borough County Property Ap- praiser (HCPA) only determines the property’s market value. It does not set the millage rate, issue the bill, or collect taxes.
“Given this historic real estate market, we understand many property owners may have questions,” Henriquez said. “I encourage all prop- erty owners to carefully re- view the Notice of Proposed Taxes and contact our office if they have any questions.”
The Notice of Proposed Property Taxes can also be re- viewed on the HCPA website by performing a property search. Once the parcel’s “Property Record Card” page is located online, property owners can click on the “TRIM” pdf icon found on the top of the page to view their
2022 Notice of Proposed Property Taxes.
To help property owners understand the information found on the notice, the HCPA has created an online explanation page.
Property owners who have additional questions about their Notice of Proposed Property Taxes should con- tact the HCPA by visiting their website, www.hcpafl.- org, to join a live chat with a staff member or by calling (813) 272-6100. If there is a discrepancy, property owners are encouraged to contact the HCPA for an informal review. They can also appeal their as- sessment by filing a petition with the Value Adjustment Board. The deadline to file a petition is Sept. 16, 2022.
In a first for Bob Hen- riquez’s office, the HCPA will also be offering mobile office hours at several loca- tions around the county dur- ing the next few weeks:
Sept. 6, 2022: C. Blythe Andrews, Jr. Public Library, 2607 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Tampa, FL 33610, from 10 AM-2 PM

“Our staff is well-known for its exceptional customer service,” Henriquez said. “We stand ready and waiting to offer any assistance.”
