Seaman Aboard USS Destroyer Farragut
United States Navy Quartermaster Seaman Daniel Sabarese, of Tampa, indicates a speed change in the deck log aboard the guided- missile destroyer USS Farragut (DDG 99). Farragut is deployed to the U. S. 5th Fleet area of operations as part of Theodore Roosevelt Car- rier Strike Group supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, strike op- erations in Iraq and Syria as directed, maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the region.
Enlistees In U. S. Navy Excel In Military Life
PETTY OFFICER FIRST CLASS DENNIS MARCOTT
Three members of the U. S. Navy are excelling in their chosen fields of specialty.
Petty Officer First Class Dennis Marcott is a New Port Richey, Florida na- tive and 1995 graduate of Saint Vincent Pallotti. He is building bridges and roads around the world as a mem- ber of the U. S. Navy’s Naval Mobile Construction Battal- ion 11, based in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Petty Officer 1st Class Marcott is a utilitiesman with NMCB 11.
Petty Officer Third Class Lexis Martinez is a native of New Port Richey and 2012 graduate of Tarpon Springs High School.

Petty Officer Third Class Martinez is a con- struction electrician with NMCB 1.
Lt. Ryan Thrun is a na- tive of St. Petersburg and a 1999 graduate of Northeast High School. He is currently assigned to the U. S. Navy’s Naval Construction Group 2.
Lt. Ryan Thrun is a fu- ture operations officer with NCG 2; a headquarters com- mand that oversees all naval construction forces based in the eastern half of the U. S.
Sailors attached to these units, nicknamed “Seabees,” are a unique group in the Navy whose motto is “We build, we fight.”
Seabees are trained as

builders and fighters. They not only build bridges, roads, runways and other structures in war zones; they also defend those structures after they’ve built them.
With nearly 600 person- nel assigned to the battalion, jobs are highly varied and every job plays an important role in keeping the battalion ready to deploy around the world to defend America wherever needed.

Two Complete U. S. Army Basic Training
Two former Tampa resi- dents recently completed basic training to serve in the u. S. Army. Both participated in their respective graduation ceremonies at Fort Jackson, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Reserve Private Jossie I. Colon Feliciano and Pri- vate First Class Andrew D. Tran studied the Army mission, history, physical fit- ness, received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayo- net training, rifle marksman- ship, armed and unarmed
combat, basic first aid, and other field training exercises. Private Colon Feli- ciano is the son of Gerson Colon and Reina Feli- ciano, of Riverview, and the brother of Marianis Cre-
spo, of Fitchburg, Mass.
He is a 2010 graduate of Gary Adult High School,
Tampa.
Private First Class Tran is the son of Nancy T. Nguyen, of Tampa, and brother of Kevin D. Tran.
He graduated from Gaither High School 2011.
Airmen With Ties To Tampa Bay Complete Basic Military Training
Six young adults with ties to the Tampa Bay Area re- cently completed basic mili- tary training in the U. S. Air Force. All of them partici- pated in their respective grad- uation ceremonies at the Joint Base San Antonio-Lack- land, in San Antonio, Texas.
Airman David J. Arm- strong, Airman 1st Class Demetrius A. Brown Air- man 1st Class Marley S. Cleopat, Airman Colin M. Davis, Reserve Airman 1st Class Jared B. Dollard, Airman 1st Class An- thony R. Mathus, Jr., completed an intensive, eight-week program that in- cluded training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Upon completion of basic training the Airmen also earned four credits toward an Associate in Applied Science Degree through the Commu- nity College of the Air Force.
Airman Armstrong is the son of Deborah A. Armstrong, of Lockport, NY, and grandson of Donald and Carol Hawkins, of Tampa.
He is the nephew of Tish Hawkins, of Ithaca, NY, Lisa Wapen, of Ithaca, NY, Lucinda Marotta, of Lockport, NY, and Kevin Hawkins, of Gasport, NY.
He graduated from Lock- port High School, in Lock- port, NY, in 2007.
Airman 1st Class Brown is the son of Janice Glover, and Amos Brown, of Tampa.
Airman 1st Class Cleophat is the daughter of Nirva C. Alexis and Stan- ley Cleophat, of Riverview, and niece of Marie C. Cleophat, of West Palm Beach, and Marcelle E. Alexis, of Brandon.
She graduated from Tampa Bay Technical High School, in 2014.
Airman Davis is the son
of Mikel R. and Sherri K. Davis, of Tampa, and grand- son of Dennis R. Wolsch, of Vernon, Texas, Betty A. and Paul Beauregard, of Durango, Colo., Annie and Rodney Davis, of Grand- bury, Texas, and Sharon D. Storek, of Vernon, Texas.
He is a 2014 graduate of Vernon High School, in Ver- non, Texas.
Reserve Airman 1st Class Dollard is the son of Gale and Joseph Dollard, of North East, MD. He is also the brother of Erin N. Dol- lard.
He graduated from Sickles High School in 2004.
Airman 1st Class Mathus, Jr., is the son of Sandi and Anthony Mathus, of Tampa, grand- son of Larry Mathus, of Centrelia, Ill., and cousin of Tim Austin, of Mountain Home, Idaho.
He graduated in 2013 from Aviano High School, Aviano, NY.
