  Coach Foundation To Host 10th Annual Juneteenth Celebration
 Reverend Willie G. Dixon,
the founder and CEO of the COACH Foundation, Inc., is part- nering to hosting the 10th Annual Juneteenth Celebration.
Rev. Dixon has hosted an an- nual Juneteenth Celebration since 2012 after realizing many Tampa community members were un- aware of the holiday's significance and history.
The Tampa Bay Juneteenth Coalition, Ed Adams, The Crew, and the COACH Foundation are joining forces to host several activ- ities for the entire month of June to celebrate Juneteenth.

The COACH's 2022 June- teenth event will be held at the Charles Davis Conference Center, located at 1002 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Tampa, FL, on Saturday, June

This year's theme is "Celebrat- ing the Voices of Tampa's Powerful Black Women." The special guest and speaker is the Honorable State Rep. Fentrice Driskell, the first Black woman to lead the Florida House Democrats.
The event will include free food catered by Archie Williams and family, photos by Jerry Brunson, music by Shawn Brown and Minister Trina McCoy. There will also be drawings for cash prizes and gift certificates from MacDon- ald's and Sam's Club.
Juneteenth (officially June- teenth National Independence Day and also known as Jubilee Day Emancipation Day, Free- dom Day, and Black Independ- ence Day is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African- Americans. It is also often observed for celebrating African-American culture. Originating in Galveston, Texas, it has been celebrated annu- ally on June 19 in various parts of the United States since 1865. The day was recognized as a federal hol- iday on June 17, 2021, when Pres- ident Joe Biden signed the
Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law. Juneteenth's commemoration is on the anniver- sary date of the June 19, 1865, an- nouncement of General Order No. 3 by Union Army general Gor- don Granger, proclaiming free- dom for enslaved people in Texas, which was the last state of the Con- federacy with institutional slavery.
