Calvary Community Clinic Presents 2nd Annual Gala
Termed Successful
More than 900 persons attended the 2017 12th Annual Women in Leadership & Philan- thropy Fall Symposium on Friday, October 20th. More than $255,000 was raised. The funds will be used to advance women in the USF System by pairing scholarships with sig- nificant mentoring engagements and leader- ship development programs, faculty research awards, and much more, states Carolyn House Stewart, Esquire, Executive Com- mittee Chairperson. India Witte is the Exec- utive Director.

U. S. Rep. Kathy Castor will be the guest speaker
The Calvary Community Clinic is a volunteer non- profit organization 501(c) (3) whose mission is to provide free, quality and compassion- ate primary healthcare to in- digent residents of Hillsborough County.
The clinic is hosting its 2nd Annual Fundraising Gala on Sunday, November 12, 2017, 5 p. m. The event will be held in the Banquet Hall of the Mt. Calvary Seventh-Day Adven- tist Worship Center, 4902 N. 40th St., Tampa 33610. “Heal- ing Hands Holistic Health” is the gala theme. “Our 2nd Annual Gala is a Fundraising effort designed to support our operations as we continue to bring hope, healing and help to our com- munity. Since opening our doors in July 2015, we have had over 1,200 patient visits, over 2,000 volunteer hours with a total value of services to licensed healthcare providers of over $125,000.00,” stated Ms. Marcellina Adonis, Execu- tive Director of the Clinic.
“As we continue to forge partnerships with local agen- cies and area hospitals, we continue to seek additional volunteer healthcare profes- sionals with a heart for the community, to give just 4 hours per month.”

pendent upon private donors and fundraising efforts. In ad- dition to Ms. Adonis, Exec- utive Director of the Clinic, Robert L. Thomas, Sr., PharmD., is Chairman, Board of Directors; Dr. Esther Browne-King is Medical Director; and Dr. Patrick Vincent is Pastor of the Church.
Other members of the Board are: Darlene Chisolm, Treasurer; Trudy Farrier, Secretary; Antonia Barber, Alisa Barksdale, Rosa Cambridge, Albert Coleman, Dr. Beverly Belle, Annette Forde, Esq., Dr. Brenda Jasper, Dr. Subhakararao Me- didi, Nathaniel Mattox, Councilman Frank Red- dick, Dr. Tayanna Richardson, Mr. Maria Samerson and Rev. Essie Sims.
The clinic staff, with the exception of the Executive Di- rector who oversees the day- to-day operation, consists of a volunteer team of fully quali- fied and certified physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pharma- cists, counselors, social work- ers, as well as clerical, administrative and support personnel.
“We are committed to meeting the healthcare needs of anyone who cannot afford medical care, regardless of gender, age, religion, ethnic- ity or national origin. Our aim is to improve the overall health of our community through volunteerism, com- munity partnerships and out- reach programs,” Ms. Adonis concluded.
The motto of the Clinic is: “He who has health has hope and he who has hope has everything.” Arabian Proverb
