17th Annual Back-To-School Bash Planned
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
On Sunday, August 6th, Ms. Tonya Lewis, and Children With A Vision, Inc., will host their 17th Annual Back-To- School Bash. The event will take place at Ragan Park, 1200 E. Lake Avenue, from 12 noon until 6 p.m.
This year, Ms. Lewis will be joined by a group of Collaborative Partners to present the event. Billed as two events under one roof, the Back-To-School Give- away will share space with the Commu- nity Fun Day & Health Fair.
Among those expected to make a spe- cial guest appearance are representatives from Pro Athletes Players, of Orlando, the MUCH Foundation, who will present live costume characters, and the Foto Depot, who will take pictures of the chil- dren and give to them. Mobley On The Go will live feed the entire event. There will be live entertainment, a health fair, and displays. Local elected officials have been invited and some are expected to be in attendance.
Ms. Lewis said, “Tampa Police offi- cers will be on hand to ensure the atmos- phere remains safe and family-friendly.
“The supplies
will be distributed
on a first-come,
first-serve basis
while they last.
Adults must ac-
company every
child and a child
must accompany
every adult. We
are encouraging
the parents and
other adults to
bring their own blankets and chairs to the event,” Ms. Lewis said.
She further said that those planning to attend the event should be mindful of the people living in the area and not block any driveways.
“This year will be awesome and the Community Fun Day is shaping up to be a wonderful event. It will attract children and their families from across the Bay Area for a day of old school fun, activities, good food, face painting, music and lots of dancing.”

RAY AND CHAI DEMOULIN
Several years ago, a Tampa father lost his 12-year-old daughter to gun vi- olence. But, instead of insisting that the 14-year-old who was responsible be imprisoned, he asked the judge for leniency.
“God placed it on my heart not to prosecute the young man and two days later, I told the judge I didn’t want to prosecute. I’ve been mentoring him for nine years,” Ray Demoulin said.
And, it was from this tragedy that The Renisha Foundation came into ex- istence. Demoulin and his wife, Chai, are also the owners of Whoos Nexxt Barbershop, 13753 N. Nebraska
Avenue.
On Sunday, August 6th, they will
partner with the University Commu- nity Center, 14013 N. 22nd Street, (33613) to provide book bags for chil- dren. “The giveaway will take place from 9 a.m. until 12 noon or for as long as they last. The book bags are for boys and girls,” he said.
Beginning on Monday, August 7th, the barbers at Whoos Nexxt will em- bark on a three-day free haircutting venture. They will begin at 9 a.m., Monday until. On Tuesday, they will begin again and on Wednesday until closing or until they have cut the hair of the 100th boy.
“We are going to be offering basic haircuts for these young men. But, we can’t offer any specialties such as hair dying, etc. I know other barbers are sharpening their tools waiting to cut the hair of these kids going back to school. But we decided to bless these children,” Demoulin said.
For more information, contact De- moulin at the barbershop at (813) 972-5207 or at 9813) 965-6893.
