Two Enlistees with ties to the Tampa Bay Area have completed their basic military training in the U. S. Air Force.
Airman 1st Class Krystina D. Charles
and Airman Emily A. Proctor both partici- pated in their respective graduation ceremonies at the Joint Base San Anto- nio-Lackland, in San An- tonio Texas.
The airmen completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military disci- pline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. They also earned four credits toward an Associate in Applied Science Degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Airman 1st Class Charles graduated from Middletown High School, Middletown, N.Y, in 2011. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 2016 from the University of South Florida.
Airman Proctor is the daughter of Francis Proctor, Jr., and step- daughter of Jennifer Proctor, of Smithfield, NC. She is the grand- daughter of Robert Sanders, of Bossier City, LA., and Francis and Susan Proctor, of Tampa.

Just a few days into the New Year, Dr. Pauline Rivers has plans to help empower women as they go into 2018. The date has been set, the site selected, the speakers are in place and now she says, “all we need is you.”
For 8 years, Dr. Rivers has hosted the women’s conference. “For 6 years we talked about healing emo- tional wounds. Last year, we used the theme of “Un- leash Your Greatness.” Now that we’ve done all of that, I feel that it’s time to ‘soar’ and that you can do at any age. We want to empower the women so that they can be their best selves and greatest selves and there’s no limit on age,” she said.
