Tampa Fire Rescue Responded To Fire At Westchester Manor Apartments
At 2 a.m. Thursday, Tampa Fire Rescue units responded to a fire at the Westchester Manor Apartments, 9029 North Central Avenue. When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of a two-story, eight unit apartment build- ing.
Due to the intensity of the flames and the size of the building, a second alarm was sent out. Fire crews fought the blaze from the outside until they had the fire under control enough to enter the structure safely.
All of the residents had been evacuated from the building be- fore firefighters arrived. The fire was under control at 3 a. m.
A total of seven families were displaced, and the fire appears to have started in one of the occupied units.
The American Red Cross was notified that there were 14 peo- ple displaced and required assistance.
The cause and origin of the fire has not been determined.
