Readers Comment On Price Of Gasoline
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
In recent weeks, the price of gasoline has continued to fall. And, it is expected to drop more.
According to the AAA Daily fuel Gauge Report, as of Tues- day, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $1,909. A year ago, the aver- age price was $2.1333. In 2012, the national average for a gallon of gasoline was $3.60 per gallon.
Experts predict that the drop in the price is related to the price of a barrel of oil. It is expected that the price will go even lower once, Iran begins to produce half a million bar- rels of oil per day.
Some Sentinel drivers an- swered the following 2-part “Question of the Week?” (1) What is the lowest gasoline price you remember? (2) Do you think gas prices will re- main affordable after the Presidential Election of 2016?
MS. BELERIA FLOYD
Ms. Beleria Floyd, owner of Grand Dames Car Service said, “I’m always looking for the least expensive prices and I think the lowest I saw was $1.49 per gallon.
“I don’t think it’s tied into the Presidential Election, but based on the price of oil. I spoke with my son, (Ethan, who lives in California) yes- terday and he said it was $2.50 a gallon out there.”
Danny Green said, “It is great that gas is under $2. We have to credit the President of

the United States and his staff for doing a great job with the economy. We have to give President Barack Obama credit when credit is due.
“I remember $0.67 back in the 1960s.When I bought my first car at the age of 14, gas was $0.75 a gallon. I do not think gasoline going to re- main the same with the new administration after Presi- dent Obama leaves the of- fice.”
Dr. Samuel Wright, Sr.,
said, “I am just happy when it

plummets because it makes my bank account look much better. Right before retire- ment, I purchased an Ameri- can made vehicle to make sure I did not have to pay for premium gasoline. I am so thankful I did.
“Gas prices may continue to remain low after the Presi- dential Election of 2016, pro- viding that we can get a Democrat elected. Should the Republicans gain access to the White House, there’s no telling what may transpire.
REV. KAREN JACKSON SIMS
Hillary Clinton knows what timeofdayitis,soIamsure she will be considerate of the working man's pocket book.” Rev. Karen Jackson Sims said “. I remember gas at .80 a gallon. I was hurt when it went to $1.00! I believe that we will keep gas affordable as long as we keep the White House in the control of the Democrats. A Republican win will bring not only higher gas prices but higher prices for consumers all the way around.”
