Free Professional Grant Writing Workshop
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is announcing they have closed on the purchase of the property occupied by the DoubleTree by Hilton Tampa Airport and Charley’s Steakhouse on West Cypress Street.
The vision for that prop- erty is a public/private part- nership with facilities and amenities to complement the growth in the West- shore Business district. That growth will include a future intermodal center for local and regional transit services to converge.
According to D-7 Secre- tary Paul Steinman, the future intermodal center
will be the central hub for public and private local and regional transit services. The goal is to enhance con- nections and increase the effectiveness of transit serv- ices within the region.
The timeframe for build- ing the intermodal center will be based on future con- nectivity needs of transit systems in the Tampa Bay region and the Westshore Business District, future population and employ- ment growth, and travel de- mand.
Under the terms of the lease agreement the Dou- bleTree Hotel and Charley’s Steakhouse will continue to operate.
