Hillsborough County School Board Approved Name For New Chamberlain Mascot
The Hillsborough County School Board approved one of three names that have been submitted for the Chamber- lain High School mascot.
Formerly the “Chamber- lain Chiefs,” the new mascot will wear one of three names that became the finalists: Chamberlain Cheetahs, Chamberlain Cyclones and Chamberlain Storm. After a vote last week, the students, faculty, staff and community members recommended their choice as the Chamberlain Storm. That’s the name the board chose, voting 5-1
The chosen logo shows a Spartan-like warrior holding lightning bolts pointing down at the words "Chamberlain
Storm."
For years, Native Ameri-
cans have been asking for the name, Chiefs, to be changed. This past June, the Board voted to retire that name. East Bay High remains the only county school with a Na- tive Indian mascot name.
