Man Charged
Turns Deadly
Toddler Dies After Being Run Over
This is the mobile home where the toddler was acci- dentally killed while playing in the yard.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a child. He was run over by a vehicle while in front of his home.
According to police, the ac- cident took place shortly after 2 p.m., Tuesday. Deputies re- sponded to a mobile home park near 27th Street SE, in Ruskin. A neighbor told police she had just dropped the child and his family off at their home.
The child, who was playing in the yard with a dog, was struck by her vehicle as the neighbor attempted to leave their home and pull into her own yard next door.
The child was transported to St. Joseph Hospital, South, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 3 p.m.
Police said drugs or alco- hol do not appear to be a fac- tor in the case. The investigation is continuing.
Two Men Being Sought For Vehicle Theft, Burglaries
   After Drug Deal
   On Monday night, deputies were on patrol in Brandon when they observed a van near the intersection of Essex Road and Woodberry Road.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office ar- rested a 21-year-old Seffner man Wednesday. Paul Dean McCourt has been charged with first-degree murder, rob- bery with a firearm, and viola- tion of probation. He is being held at the Hillsborough
County Jail without bond. According to police, during the course of their investiga- tion, they spoke with friends of the victim and learned that the unidentified victim was in the process of making a drug deal
at the time of the shooting. McCourt is alleged to have met the victim to buy marijuana. However, at some point, the transaction turned into murder after McCourt shot the victim before running
away.
Detectives learned of the
murder after a deputy ap- proached a van at the location shortly before 11 p.m., Mon- day. The vehicle was in park with the engine running and revving. The deputy found an adult male unresponsive in the

driver’s seat. He removed the man from the vehicle and began performing CPR. The man appeared to have been suffering from gunshots to his upper body.
He was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators learned that McCourt had been arrested the day after the shooting and was being held at the Orient Road Jail on an unrelated charge.
There was no additional in- formation released about the murder.
GIBSONTON SUSPECT #1
Police are searching for two men in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries. The thefts took place on Janu- ary 17th.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, the two Black men entered the Carriage Point Subdivision around 1:30 a.m., in a stolen Black Lexus. They committed several burglaries, stole a blue Volkswagen Jetta, and fled the scene.

A deputy observed both ve- hicles on Honeywell Road and attempted to make a traffic stop. However, the suspects fled and both vehicles were later located abandoned.
The image of the suspects was captured on surveillance video.

    Deputies Find Man Dead In Brandon Apartment

    Deputies with the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice discovered a man dead in an apartment. The discovery was made Monday afternoon.
According to police, the family of the unidentified man asked deputies to conduct a wellness check at the Indigo Point Apartments, 1850 Prov- idence Lakes Boulevard, in Brandon.
The man’s family told
deputies they had not been in contact with him for some time. When deputies arrived at the apartment, they discov- ered the man dead. He had suffered upper body trauma.
As a result of the discov- ery, detectives are now con- ducting a homicide investigation.
Police did not release any additional information about the case.
