Day Of Pampering Planned For Special Moms
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
Mother’s Day is the one day set aside to pay a special trib- ute to mothers all over the world. But, in some instances, the day may be overshadowed because of other issues in life.
However, this weekend, members of a local organiza- tion will make the day special for one group of mothers. The TiniGirls (Taking Initiative Now & Indefinitely) will treat them to a day of pampering. The event is entitled “Mani- cures For Moms.”
The beneficiaries of this event are 10 mothers cur- rently living at The Spring abuse center. The ten mothers will have manicures, pedi- cures, and enjoy a continental breakfast.
Ms. Karly Wright, a member of TiniGirls said, “We just want t0 show these ladies some love and let them know that there are people who care about them.
“Tampa General Hospital will provide them with gift bags and Glensford Beauty

Academy is also a sponsor.” Ms. Wright further said that TiniGirls consists of a group of women who volun- teer their time working with other organizations. “We are a mentoring organization. Re- cently, we held a fundraiser for Miracles Outreach. Mira-
cles Outreach works with chil- dren between the ages of 12 and 18 who have been victims of human trafficking.”
She further said that as part of their mentoring, they focus on such things as teaching life skills and building self-esteem to help motivate the victims.
“We tell them that bad things are in the past, but by moving forward, there is light at the end of the tunnel.”
Throughout the year, Tini- Girls hosts events to benefit other organizations. On June 4th, they will host their Sum- mertini and their Christmas- tini will take place on
December 10th.
“We are hoping more peo-
ple will get on board to help. It is not always about needing money. Sometimes we may just need a place to have an event,” she said.
