AIKENS
MRS. LILLIAN BRYANT WILLIAMS BROWN
A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Lillian Bryant Williams Brown, of Tampa, Florida, who transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 13, 2021 will be held on Friday, February 26th, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th Street, with Pastor S. Evan Burrows, offici- ating. The interment will be held in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Death came quietly and gave her a gentle sleep.
Lillian was born in Tampa, Florida, February 22, 1926, to the late William and Beatrice (LaCount) Bryant. She at- tended the Public Schools of Hillsborough County graduat- ing from Middleton High School.
Mrs. Brown, after gradua- tion took on a variety of jobs. Once given the opportunity, she opened a kindergarten and pre- school in the basement of the First Baptist Church of College Hill under the late Rev. J. C. Robinson.
She continued her educa- tion at Gibbs Junior College earning an AA degree. She was blessed once again and opened Little Angel Day Nursery and Kindergarten, along with her daughter, Beatrice.
As faith would have it Mrs. Brown had a burning desire to further her education and ma- triculated to Bethune-Cookman College, (now University), earn- ing a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. While at Bethune- Cookman, she served as dorm Counselor becoming a mother figure to many students being
   away from home.
The highlight of her college
life was becoming a member of the Mu Beta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. After receiv- ing her degree, she returned to Hillsborough County, taught a few years then retired. Most of Mrs. Brown’s life’s work was that as a businesswoman and educator.
She also catered to her com- munity, taking residents shop- ping, preparing meals for those who were not able until her health took a turn for the worst.
During her time at First Bap- tist Church of College Hill, she directed the Youth Choir, the Youth Usher Board, the Christ- mas and Easter plays, and Vaca- tion Bible School. The extraordinary gift of teaching enabled her to touch the lives of hundreds of children, many of which she maintained a close re- lationship over the years.
She continued to impact the lives of many students and en- couraged them to further their education. Mrs. Brown is a member of First Baptist Church of College Hill, Beta Sigma Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Soror- ity, Inc. and the Hillsborough Chapter of Bethune-Cookman University National Alumni As- sociation.
Lillian was preceded in death by: her parents; hus- bands, Howard Williams and Joseph Brown; daughters, Beat- rice Black and Birdie Under- wood; sons, Howard Williams, Sr., and Harold Williams; grandson, Howard Williams, Jr.; sister, Leila Aldridge and brother, Nathaniel Bryant.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories with: daugh- ter, Betoria Williams Watson; granddaughter, Raquel Watson Hickman (Jermell); grandchil- dren, Carter and Cari Hunter; niece, Dr. Shirley Speights; cousin, Vernell Robinson; god- daughters, Barbara Murphy, Dr. Inez Joseph, Carrie Jackson and Mildred Harvey; godson, Keith Murphy; Caregivers, Hazel Cole- man and Ruth Neal; a host of relatives and friends.
The visitation will be at Aikens Funeral Home on Thurs- day, February 25th from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Friday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
MRS. PAULINE GUNN FERRELL BULGER
A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Pauline Gunn Ferrell Bulger, of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Tuesday, Febru- ary 16, 2021, at Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace, Florida, at 5:04 p.m., the new spirit soared on the wings of her comforter and now is at rest, will be held on Saturday, Febru- ary 27th, 11:00 a.m. at Life Spring Baptist Church, 912 E. Fairbanks St., Rev. Dr. Willie J. Haynes, of- ficiating. The interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
Mrs. Pauline Gunn Ferrell Bulger was born December 24, 1942, to the late Mannie Gunn, Sr., and Allie Mae James Gunn, in Quincy, Florida.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Preston Lee Bulger; brothers, Eugene, Tommy and Mannie, Jr.; sister, Syneda and grandson, Kobe Fer- rell.
She leaves to cherish her lov- ing memories with: her loving and devoted daughter, Jennifer Marie Ferrell-Maddox of Tampa, Florida; three sons, Larry Darnell Gunn (Deborah) of San Diego, California, David Lamare Gunn (Joyce) of Gibson- ton, Florida and Marvin Ferrell, Jr., of Tallahassee, Florida; grandchildren, Dorian, Jeraie, Terrell, Jaleah and Jessica; great grandchild, Nevaeh; four sisters, Lillie B. Smith, Martha J. Beavers of Quincy, Florida, Shirley G. Anderson (Dea. Alphonso) and Joyce E. Gunn of Columbus, Ohio; four brothers, Aucilla Gunn and Albert Gunn of Quincy, Florida, Melvin Gunn, Sr., (Dorothy) of Tampa, Florida and Louis S. Gunn of Columbus, Ohio; a host of other relatives and friends that will miss her.
The visitation will be held at Life Spring Baptist Church on Friday, February 26th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the serv- ice. We are following the CDC guidelines.
MRS. ESSIE MAE GRIFFITH
A Homegoing Service for Mrs. Essie Mae Griffith, in the closing of her journey, she went to be with the Lord on the morning of February 20, 2021. Service will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Larry Roundtree, II, pastor of New Mt. Zion M. B. Church, officiating. The interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
Essie Mae Griffith was born on February 23, 1922, to Lucius Murray and Rosa Sparrow in Funston, Georgia as Essie Mae Murray. She was married to the late Emory Griffith of Pavo, Geor- gia, a World War II Army Vet- eran.
She was the eldest of three siblings: the late Mozella Wiggins, and the late Willie James Wilson. She moved to Tampa, Florida in 1947.
She joined the New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and was loved and admired as a faith- ful prayer warrior.
She was the mother of seven children: the late Pansy O. Grif- fith, the late Emory James Grif- fith, and the late Daniel Griffith.
She is survived by her four children, Nelson Griffith, Gregory (Miriam) Griffith, Linda I. Baker and Ruby F. A. Baker. She is sur- vived by an amazing host of grandchildren, great grandchil- dren, and great, great grandchil- dren extending six generations throughout Florida, Georgia, and Washington, D.C.
She is also survived by her only nephew, Willie James Wig- gins, and two grand nephews, Keith and Kevin Wiggins of Wash- ington, D.C. She is also survived by her grand nieces and nephews of the Lammons family of Bar- wick, Georgia. She is further sur- vived by her paternal cousins, Frances Watts, and family.
The viewing will be held on Monday, March 1st, from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home. We are following the CDC guidelines.
MR. MOSES McCLAIN HARMON, SR.
A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Moses McClain Har- mon, Sr., of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021, will be held on Saturday, February 27th, at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th St, Tampa, FL 33610, at 11:00 a.m., Pastor S. Evan Burrows, officiating. The interment will be held in Or- ange Hill Cemetery.
Moses McClain Harmon, Sr., was born on February 5, 1940, in Demopolis, Alabama, to the late Rev. John Harmon and Josephine Newberry.
Moses was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of College Hill. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, swim- ming, and playing cards.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, John Harmon and Josephine Newberry; sib- lings, John Harmon, Annie Harris, Gertrude Payton, Grace Harris, and Viviane Robinson.
He leaves to cherish his pre- cious memories with: his wife, Betty Harmon; children, Sandy Stanford (Robert), Doreatha Johnson, Moses Harmon, Jr., (Nikki), Ljwan Zellner (Mau- rice) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Andrea Hicks (Jimmie); grand- children, Aaron Harmon, Evan- der Johnson, III, Stefan Stanford, Jaylan Speights, Cierra Jackson, Marques L. Johnson, Paige L. Johnson, and Edward W. Johnson; great grandchildren, Maya Johnson, Dyonna Johnson, Kaliyah John- son, and Armani King; sister, Irene Graves; nieces, Shirley Jackson (James) of Lansdown, Pennsylvania; goddaughters, Dr. Florence Parra and Patrice Bingham; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
