MRS. CORNETTE MILLER THOMAS
Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Cornette Miller Thomas, af- fectionately known as “Blue,” 67, of Tampa passed away, Wednes- day, February 6, 2019. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16th, at 11 a. m. at St. John Progressive M. B. Church, 2504 E. Chipco St., Tampa, FL 33605. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
The repast will be held at the American Legion Seminole Post, 6918 N. Florida Ave., Tampa, FL 33604.
Cornette was a native of Tampa, FL, born to the proud parents, Lillie C. and Henry T. Miller. She grew up surrounded by family and friends in “THE WEST” of Tampa Bay. Her im- mediate family consisted of seven sisters and five bothers. With a large family she would al- ways have something to cele- brate which had to include her love of dancing and singing to old school music. She also loved all kinds of sports and played basketball and ran track.
After graduating from Blake High School, Class of 1969, she would move on to join the FAMU Rattlers family. While attending Florida Agricultural and Me- chanical University (FAMU), a historically black university (HBCU) in Tallahassee, FL, she would become an avid Rattler fan; graduating in 1974 with a Minor in Sociology, Major in Computer Science.
Shortly after college, Cor- nette began a career with the Hillsborough County School Board, then transferred to the City of Tampa as an Administra- tor for over 20 years.
She married Mr. Wayne Thomas and together they reared 7 children: 5 boys and 2 girls. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, travel- ing, and going to church, where she branded the phrase, “Say what you mean, and Mean what you say.”
She is preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Rose Marie Smith, Jeanette and Annette Spires; and brothers, Edgar Spires, and Mayfield Spires.

DR. JULIA COBB BARNES
Homegoing Celebration for Dr. Julia Cobb Barnes, 83, who entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at the Sun City Hospice House in Ruskin, FL, will be held on Saturday, Febru- ary 16, 2019 at 11 a. m. at Excit- ing Faith Alive Church, 5705 E. 32nd Avenue, Tampa, Florida, with Pastor Antonio Hawkins, officiating. Entombment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610.
Dr. Barnes was preceded in death by: her parents, Dewitt Wade and Elizabeth Corbett Rolle; son, Andre Samuels; husband, Horace Barnes; sister, Doretha Taylor and niece, Madelyn Crutchfield.
She is survived by: son, Christopher Cobb; 5 grandchil- dren; 3 nephews, 4 nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be a viewing on Friday February 15, 2019, from 5 – 8 p. m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida. Friends are asked to assemble at the church on Saturday at approximately 10:45 a. m. for the service.

MOTHER LORETTA HARDY
Homegoing Celebration for Mother Loretta Hardy, who passed on February 6, 2019, will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at 1 p. m. at New Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3325 E. Emma Street, Tampa, Florida, Pastor Ronnie Murray, with Bishop W. L. Lee, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, Florida.
Mother Loretta Hardy was born March 3, 1936 in Swains- boro, Georgia, to the parentage of Lucious and Mary Lee Smith. She was the youngest girl of 6 siblings. Mother Hardy attended the public schools in Swainsboro, Georgia.
She moved to Tampa, Florida in 1950. Mother Hardy dedicated 10 years as an employee in the serv- icing industry and retired from Company Del Monte.
Mother Hardy accepted the Lord early in life. She was a faith- ful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to New Smyrna Bap- tist Church, where she was a faithful member and she served on the Mother’s Board.
Mother Hardy was a woman who had values, integrity, and character. She was truly an amaz- ing woman. She was loving, gen- erous and she gave our family values to live by. She took pride in cooking Sunday dinner and she enjoyed bringing the family to- gether, which created memorable moments. Mother Hardy was a praying woman and she enjoyed going to church. Her favorite gospel group was the Canton Spir- ituals and one of her favorite songs was “On My Way Home.” Whenever we visited her it was a guarantee she would be playing the song. Mother Hardy was a de- voted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; she was the family matriarch.
Mother Loretta Hardy, 82 years old, was preceded in death by: late husband, Butler Hardy; parents, Lucious and Mary Lee Smith; brothers-in-law, Charlie Mack and Joseph Shedrick; son- law, Elder Jimmy Ford.
Mother Hardy leaves to cher- ish special memories with: her three loving devoted children, Al- bert Hardy, Mamie Ford and Loretta (Mitchell) Powell. She will be dearly missed by 17 grand- children, Albert, Marty, Anthony, Theresa, Ivan, Tony, Valorie, El- dred, Steven, Latausha, Jimmy, Jr, Jerome, Shaquia, Shawntay, Selina, Richard, Jr. and Late San- tanian; sisters, Myrtle Mack and Myrtice Shedrick; and a host of great-grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
There will be a viewing on Fri- day, February 15, 2019, from 5 – 8 p. m. at Wilson Funeral Home.

MR. REGINALD KARL ‘NOBSEY’ WALTERS
Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Reginald Karl “Nobsey” Walters, who passed away on January 23, 2019, will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 2 p. m. at Cathedral Of Faith Church, Inc., 6304 N. 30th Street, Tampa, Florida, Apostle James H. Howell, Pastor, with Apostle O’Neil Salmon, offici- ating and Pastor Lenox Miller, words of comfort. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Me- morial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610.
Reginald Karl Walters, aka “Nobsey,” was born in Kingston, Jamaica on Decem- ber 18, 1939, to the parentage of Mabel Tomlinson and Mar- tin Walters. He was the eleventh of twelve children, whose names are Martin, Daphne, Keith, Jean, Leroy and Carol.
Mr. Walters did his appren- ticeship at Appleton Estate as an Electrician. He was later employed by Serge Island and Good Year Jamaica, Ltd., where he practiced his trade.
Mr. Nobsey encountered his first relationship with Miss Avis Patterson, and together they bore 2 children, Phillip and Janice, who was born in England when she migrated.
He then met my beautiful Mom, Hyacinth Lue Nukfah. She was the love of his life and they entered into holy matri- mony and produced 3 girls.... Mitzie, Marie and Nicola.
From the union, Mr. Wal- ters is survived by: fourteen grandchildren, two great- grandchildren; seven nieces and nine nephews and one brother- in-law. He left behind a legacy of lives he touched, hearts he gave hope with ad- vice to become the best they can be to achieve and settle not for less. Today, many are dressed in success and living it, and seeds are still growing through his grandchildren. God bless you dad, your min- istry was a charity and yet it ended abruptly, but I believe in miracles and you are my God- given miracle. A job well done you have achieved honors to the highest degree.
