In keeping with First Lady Michelle Obama’s national initiative to help youth be- come healthier through movement, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Tampa Bay Chapter will be hosting a “Fighting Childhood Obesity: Move it to Lose It” Dance and Step Competition and Health Fair.
The event will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2015, from10a.m.until2p.m.at Middleton High School, 4801 N. 22nd St. Tampa, FL 33610.
Families are invited to
support the health vendors along with the dance and step teams participating in the competition. The event is being sponsored in conjunc- tion with the HCC MLK Day of Service grant “A Day On not A Day Off:” A day focused on health and education for the entire family.
The goal of this commu-
nity service event is to edu- cate youth ages 8-17 and their families with a two-fold activ- ity which covers health and education. For the Coalition this is a MOVE IT TO LOSE IT -DANCE IT OFF move- ment that will continue annu- ally to promote their National initiative of Fighting Child- hood Obesity. This is the start of their local efforts to sup- port the foundational theory if you move it you can lose it and dancing is a simple key to remaining physically active, which promotes a healthy lifestyle for all.
National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. - Tampa Bay Chapter (NC100BW) is a non-profit advocacy and serv- ice organization committed to improving the quality of life for all people in the Tampa Bay area.
