at the church of regular attendance. Depending on the wishes of the family, a funeral service consists of scripture reading, prayers, a eulogy, sometimes a sermon, and music. After the funeral there is a procession to the cemetery for the committal service. Often a reception follows at the church, church hall, a friends house or the family’s home where friends and family can come together to show support.
Committal Service
A more informal way to say goodbye.
A Committal Service is a service performed at the grave site following a traditional funeral service, but prior to the burial. This is where family and friends can say their final goodbyes at the final resting place by placing by placing flowers, meaningful objects, or earth on the
casket. If the committal service is the only service then it becomes what we call a graveside service and includes a visitation the night before. The graveside service is a longer version of the Committal Service consisting of scripture reading, eulogy, poetry and music.
Cremation
A different option.
We offer the option of traditional funeral services followed by a cremation. Having the remains cremated does not restrict you from having a visitation, open casket or funeral service. It is even possible to include a procession to the cemetery for a committal service.
Direct Cremation is when there is no visitation with the deceased present. Then the body is placed in a cremation receptacle (container) and transported to a crematory. The cremated remains are placed in an urn and made ready to have visitation at the funeral home with the remains.
