It was just after 90's. People used to meet and chat rather than swiping over cell phones. The local
tea shops used to fan and blow their earthen ovens than lighting up the modern gas ovens. Young
lovers used to write love letters instead of Whatsapp or Messenger messages. The hair cutting salon
used to play Kumar Sanu songs, in the evening. Local boys used to whistle Bollywood songs and used
to sing Bengali band songs. Instead of rushing to the shopping malls or multiplexes people used to
rush to the old fashioned cinema halls named after 19th century names. Performance slots in the
local cultural used to be blocked by the higher donors.

Our story is based out of those era. Let's name the locality as "Amara Bati God/Goddess
Men/Women Boys/Girls Shopkeepers/Local Hooligans/Students/ Lovers/Doctors/Promoters,
everyone was part of that society. The locality was a mix of love, hate, anger, friendships and
rivalries

The story is around a girl’s hostel owned by a forty year old, divorced woman Gargi Mallik. Post the
marriage, she was Gargi Mandal. Now she is back to Gargi Mallik

Gargi did her masters from Burdwan University, where she fell in love with a village boy. She went
against her family and married him, but after some time, she divorced him and came back. After her
parents passed away she has built up this hostel in her house. Along with the hostel, she runs a
coaching centre as well. She only teaches history to 5-6 3rd division higher secondary students.
Parama is one of them. She's 19, studying in a college. Her father wants to marry her off after her
higher secondary. Parama refused and left her home. She had studied in an English medium school.
She earns her living by teaching four English medium school students. She earns around 5500 by
teaching them. Parama is very stingy about her money that she also agrees. So, overall, she can
manage with her income.

2 other boarders are Ankita and Usri. Both of them are from North Bengal, studying in Class 11.They
have got admitted in the local polytechnic college. They could not manage any accomodation in
college hostel .That why they stay here. Usri is very beautiful, but Ankita is very ordinary looking.
Usri is very proud of her beauty. Ankita has an inferiority complex about her looks. Usri belongs to a
very affluent family, whereas ankita belongs to a middle class family. Usri receives a lot as her pocket
money which she spends a lot on her friends, including her best friend Ankita

Sonali is another member of this hostel. She doesn't have much interaction with anyone. She sleeps
through the morning and leaves in the afternoon for her work. She hardly speaks to anyone even if
they cross their path. No one knows what Sonali's job is. She leaves in the afternoon and comes back
very late at night. Others get surprised as Gargi scolds everyone even if they are slightly late in the
evening, but says nothing to Sonali when she comes back around midnight.

There a a few people who are indirectly connected with this boarding made Shefali clean the house
