 Epilogue
The very thought of being trapped in a highly-pressurized aluminum tube hurtling through space at hundreds of miles per hour at almost a mile above the planet’s surface can trigger anxiety in a lot of people!
Yet there I was, aboard a 5-hour commercial flight heading home from a speaking engagement in Vancouver, Canada. The flight was about three quarters of its way to my hometown of Toronto, and we were just past Winnipeg, a bitter cold city perched in the middle of Canada on the edge of a barren, frozen tundra we call the prairies.
I reflected on the earlier part of my day.
As part of my commitment to living as stress-free a life as I can, I always arrive at airports early. Really early.
Well before the crowds had arrived at the airport that evening, I breezed through check-in and security, found myself a comfy corner by the gate and cracked open a good book.
Through a combination of charm and good planning I can often score myself an upgrade, or at least a bulkhead seat that saves me spending the 5 hours closely examining my knee caps. That evening, Dan was the gentleman who checked me in. (Always look at name tags and use people’s names, it
