approach to serving seniors and families with foster children. The Treehouse Community, located in Easthampton is a planned, intergenerational neighborhood where foster families and their children, older youth and elders
invest in one another’s health, dreams and futures. Opened in 2006, this village’s children find not just parents and a home, but also grandparents, playmates and an entire neighborhood designed to help them grow up in a nurturing environment, heal and succeed in life. The success of this concept is borne out by comparing children and youth at Treehouse to national statistics in important educational outcomes.

Another community organization we would like to highlight this year is Safe Passage. Our First Churches team of 15 raised $6,720 through the Annual Hot Chocolate Run in support of Safe Passages.
Safe Passages provides emergency shelter in a confidential location, for the safety of their guests. Community services include counseling, advocacy, peer support and legal services at their new office at 76 Carlon Drive in Northampton and in locations throughout Hampshire County. They serve all survivors of domestic violence or abuse including LBGTQ+ people, children, rural survivors, those with disabilities, immigrants and refugees.
