Chapter 13 (115) GOSPEL OF MATTHEW
all these things?” They answered him, “Yes, Lord.” He said to them, “Therefore, every trained person who has been made a disciple in the Kingdom of Heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new and old things.”
hen Jesus had finished speaking these para-
bles, he departed from there. Coming into his own country, he taught the people *in their
synagogue,
and they were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these deeds of power? Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers, James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? Are not all of his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all of these things?” And they stumbled because of him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country and in his own house!” He did not do ma- ny deeds of power there because of their unbelief. End to Monday.
