SAFETy PROCEDURES AND NORMS FOR ThE USE OF CURRENT TRANSFORMERS
1. Transport:
• All installation and transport operations must be carried out in compliance with the applicable safety precautions.
2. Installation:
• Make sure the specifications on the label are compatible with the system’s electrical parameters.
• Make sure that the transformers are physically intact and undamaged in all their parts before attempting to put
them in operation.
• Maintain the required insulation distance between primary connections and the body of the system.
• Make sure the connections between primary and secondary clips are made properly, both in terms of tightness
and in terms of polarity.
• Make sure the secondary terminals of the TA are always connected to the nominal setting or closed in short circuit.
• Do not activate the secondary circuit when there is power in the primary circuit.
• Ground the support plates and a secondary coil terminal (ex. S2)
• Make sure that the cables connecting the TA and the nominal power feed are suitable for the secondary current.
3. Maintenance:
• Before carrying out any operation, make sure that the TA are not connected to the power grid or drawing power
in any way
• Verify the state of the connections
• Make sure there are no traces of carbonization on the insulating surfaces
• Verify the absence of halo effects near the primary connections
• It is advisable to remove dust and/or other deposits that may be present on the surfaces of the transformers, using a dry cloth and avoiding the use of solvents.
4. Disposal:
• In case disposal of obsolete material at an authorized waste disposal site becomes necessary, use materials code C.E.R. 160214 directive or operate according to existing provisions of local and national.
For any matter not specified should follow the previous instructions of the operating manuals for download on www. ftmsrl.it site.
