Message from the Chairman
It is with great pleasure that we present to you the Second Annual Report of the Department of Finance, where we share with you the highlights of the Department’s operations and achievements during 2017 and our plans for the current year.
The year 2018, in which this report is being published, denotes a heartfelt memory in the United Arab Emirates as it marks 100 years since the birth of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the United Arab Emirates. To commemorate this historic national occasion, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates has declared 2018 as the “Year of Zayed”. And here, at the Department of Finance, this occasion presents us with the opportunity to express our pride to have the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan as the first Chairman of the Department of Finance.
And on this dear occasion, we look forward to the procession led by the founder of the State, along with the founding fathers, in which they have instilled in us the spirit of unity and the determination to sustain the foundations of the nation to achieve its prosperity which will cultivate the productive and creative Emirati being. From the responsibility entrusted with each and every one of us, we, at the Department of Finance, renew our pledge of allegiance and loyalty to our prudent leadership; and we continue to work on developing a financial system that supports the procession of the Country’s advancement, prosperity and affluence that assures the growth of its people.
In this report, we present a comprehensive outlook of the tasks and responsibilities entrusted to the Department in line with Law No. 1 of 2017 concerning the Financial System of the Government of Abu Dhabi; while highlighting its achievements during 2017.
The Department’s prior year accomplishments, which embody the efforts spent, represent the building blocks for our ultimate goal, which is the continuity of our success being the true measure of real success.
In conclusion, I would like to express my gratitude to our wise leaders for their continuous guidance and support to the Department. I would also like to thank our strategic partners, all Government Entities, Corporations, Companies, and our employees and all those who contributed to the completion of the duties and responsibilities entrusted to us while hoping that God will help us to continue serving our cherished Country and supporting it to achieve its ambitions. I hope that this report is to your liking, and that it provides you with a comprehensive view of the Department’s operations and achievements.
