In Memory
Perhaps not known to most of our readership, nevertheless Lynn and
his company played an important role to The League. You see, Lynn
was co-owner and Vice President of Frye-Williamson Press, the printing
company who produces the Illinois Reporter. Established since the early
20th century they, like The League, have a strong and respected presence
in Illinois. State associations are a big part of their business and The
League has benefited not only from the deliverable of a quality product,
but maybe most importantly, from the genuine and efficient service Lynn
and his team provided. Both Lynn and his brother Rick (President) have
always been generous in helping community organizations. Lynn really
enjoyed working with his customers in a way that I believe has become
an uncommon practice of personally delivering proofs and meeting with
Lynn M. Serena clients face to face. His daughter, Ami, told me
(1960-2018) that she “didn’t think he had any idea the
impact he made on so many people. He
was just doing what he believed to be right.” Lynn made a home
in Petersburg where he and his wife Kathy raised their kids Ami
and Joe. He had a passion for NHRA drag racing and loved
spending time with his two grandchildren, Sadie and Lucas.
Ami has taken over helping me with The Reporter. It’s a bitter
sweet endeavor for sure, but I know she’ll step in to fill her dad’s
shoes. The League extends our warmest thoughts and deepest
sympathies to Lynn’s family, friends and colleagues.
