“Garden of Exalted Love”
The Roman Garden has been
a part of the palace’s grounds from the beginning.
King Vajiravudh’s conception
of the garden was inspired
by the gardens of the grand European palaces.
Classical decorations adorn
the gardens, with its Roman-style columns and dome.
The building is flanked
by topiaries and a fountain
with a sculpture of Varuna,
the god of water and rain.
This sculpture is the work of Corrado Feroci (Professor
Silpa Bhirasri), who executed
this work in Firenze, Italy,
before coming to work in Siam.
