Corporate governance refers to the practice
of sound business management guided by a clear
vision and lawful operations, with an emphasis on
transparency, fairness, and accountability to all
stakeholders, including shareholders, employees,
business partners, society, the environment, and the
nation. The presence of sound corporate governance
positively influences a business in the long term by
enhancing its value for sustainable growth, reducing
the risk of losses from corruption or non-transparent
management, and strengthening business credibility.
It also ensures that society and the nation benefit
equitably.
The Department of Business Development
(DBD), an agency with roles directly involving the
oversight of businesses from their establishment
through to operation and dissolution, places high
priority on promoting corporate governance–based
management within the Thai business sector.
This is achieved through activities aimed at
encouraging SMEs to meet corporate governance
