NAS Wildwood Aviation Museum now boasts over 26 aircraft displays as well as exhibits of military memorabilia, engines, photographs and more. Additionally, the Franklin Institute of Philadelphia has provided NAS Wildwood with a wealth of interactive exhibits that allow visitors to discover the science of flight. The museum also features a library, as well as fly-ins, aviation festivals, big band concerts, veterans’ ceremonies, historical lectures, school field trips and senior tours. 609-886-8787.
BLOWIN’ in the WIND: The Jersey Atlantic Wind Farm, the most visible wind energy project in North America – and certainly noticeable entering Atlantic City on the Expressway – has five state- of-the-art wind turbines with tower hubs that are
approximately 262 feet high, each with three rotors that measure 118 feet. The facility welcomes visitors during the summer at noon on Mondays and Fridays. In operation since 2005, the renewable energy source generates power to help operate the Atlantic County Utilities Authority’s wastewater treatment plant.
THRILLING & TAME: Gillian’s Piers at 6th Street on the Ocean City Boardwalk provide hours of family fun and entertainment throughout the season with 30 rides for all ages. Wonderland Pier is a pay-as-you-go park that allows you to ride as many or as few amusements as you want. Wonderland Pier is divided into four sections: Inside rides, Lower Deck rides, Midway Deck rides and Gillian’s Fun Deck. 609-399-7082.
BRIGANTINE GOLF LINKS: True to its historic Scottish roots the seaside layout at the Brigantine Golf Links includes breathtaking bay views, native marshes and gently rolling, nearly treeless, terrain. Located just across the bay from Atlantic City, the course was built in 1927 and is unique to the Northeast area of the country with its authentic Scottish links design. 609-266-1388;
GREEN TREE GOLF COURSE: Green Tree Golf Course in Egg Harbor Township is a regulation 18-hole, par 72, 5600-yard course that is a challenge to the experienced as well as the novice golfer. The course is known for its tight, tree-lined fairways and its excellent greens.
