The LIONS SIGHT & TISSUE FOUNDATION, INC. of District 2-X1 (LS&TF) is a working Board of Directors made up of 15 elected voting members plus any appointed Officers & the sitting 1VDG. This Board works for the Lions of District 2-X1 to assist clubs within their communities to serve people who cannot afford the proper vision care or medical assistance for vision related surgeries.
In November 2017 the LSTF received their new more compact Mobile Eye Clinic. Lion Neil Roach who helped design the bus, making sure we did not need a Commercial License to drive (this cuts out the Driver Fee we have had in the past), never got to see the final product so the LSTF Board voted to call the new bus the “Neil Roach Mobile Eye Clinic” & on the door “Neil Mobile”. Also, this past Lion’s Year, since the LSTF is still partnered with Essilor Vision Foundation, we have been able to reduce the cost of eyeglasses. We still partner with local Lions Clubs & Independent School Districts to serve approximately 2,000 children & adults.
Some of the costs the clubs are asked to help with are as follows:
* Cost to bring the bus to a location & coordinate clinic or bring bus to a location for Parade, PR, etc.
** If club does not provide their own Doctor
*** For all eyeglasses, doesn’t matter what the strength
The LSTF needs the support of the Lions & Lions Club of District 2-X1. Some of the ways to support is your 100% Contribution of $5.00 per member. By hosting a Clinic, it helps to promote the LSTF but also your club. Please see page ?? for a list of Awards your club can purchase to Honor a Special Member in your club.
