Dès le Moyen Age, les festins étaient monnaie courante au Palais lors des fêtes religieuses ou de la venue de visiteurs de marque, les papes recevaient avec grand faste dans le Tinel, conviaient à des tables raffinées, regorgeant de mets et de vins nécessitant un personnel nombreux mais aussi un approvisionnement important en vivres,
une agriculture locale intense et un développement important de la viticulture.
During medieval times, banquets were an important part of life at the Palace of the Popes. Banquets were held to celebrate religious holidays and the arrival of prestigious guests. The popes hosted many important events around elegant dining tables groaning under the weight of refined dishes and wines. The Papal Court required the organised supply of food and wines, giving rise to strong local agriculture and the significant expansion of vineyards.
