Varsity Grapplers Overcome Small Team Size With Exceptional Performances
With only eleven returning lettermen it looked as if this year’s grapplers would have difficulty putting together a winning season.
This was an unfounded fear as Coach Leslie Rudnyanszky BOUNCED his team to a 9-5 season, one of the best in recent years. Coach Rudnyan­ szky commented that, “On top of a successful season, there were many outstanding perform­ ances by the matmen.”
Those who deserved recognition were Guy Dona­ ted, who sweated his way to third place in the State Championship and Steve MacAvoy and Ralph Conti, both of whom had no losses during the dual meet season. They are the most notable members, but the season was the result of outstanding per­ formance of the entire team.
