The Hornes
Ski Instructor, Deerfield Academy—1958
When the Wardlaw School changed its administration, it seemed appropriate for a Wardlaw alumnus to direct this fine institution. The man who stepped forward and assumed this leadership is Mr. Prentice C. Horne, a graduate of Deerfield Academy and Amherst College.
In 1941 the Navy called him to duty, and at the close of the war, he went back to Deerfield, this time as an instructor and administrator, a position he held for fourteen years.
In August of 1959, the trustees of the newly organized Wardlaw Country Day School were fortunate in having Mr. Horne accept the position of headmaster. Along with this change came others, and a new, different, and im proved policy for the school was inaugurated. This new era is in the capable hands of our popular Mr. Horne, whose guidance means a brighter outlook for the future of Wardlaw students.
