and clear-sightedness implies both wisdom and understanding. Without understanding in a far larger proportion of our citi­ zens we may have again an apparently peaceful, well-ordered world, but the peace will he of short duration.
You have been very dear to the hearts of your school. You have shown sympathy, and generosity, imd responsive­ ness. Be responsive always. Very humbly we have tried to start you in the paths of wisdom and understanding, but those
paths are long and we ourselves have not travelled them far enough to make the best of guides. Let us go on together. Class of 1920, looking forward steadily to a world that shall be free; free for men, women and children— free from the tyranny of Capital, or of Labor; free from the tyranny of Kings or of Bolshevists; heeding earnestly the words of centuries
