To you, Dr. David Berryt we, the Wardlaw-Hartridge graduating class, dedicate the 201 1 yearbook.
"An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day." - Henry David Thoreau
Reminiscing with friends about the good times of high school, some names always bring about smiles and warm laughter. These names, which evoke such fond memories, always include the immediate telling of a comical story or an amusing quote. Fewer names, however, are remembered during the times we need guidance, strength to stand up for what we believe in, and perseverance to stay strong when times get tough. Always following the beat of your own drum, you Dr. Berry, through your daily example and life stories, have taught our class how to be happy with, and even embrace, the individuals we are. Like the Pied Piper, you have led and captivated the class of 201 1, bringing us on a journey of academia and life lessons. You have enthusiastically celebrated our personal thoughts and quirky attitudes. Living in a world filled with stress and high expectations, you have always portrayed the perfect example of how to stay calm and maintain focus on our goals, while still having fun.
An English teacher to us all during some point of our four years at Wardlaw-Hartridge, the time we spent in your classroom will always be warmly cherished. Your humorous yet practical take on the literature we read kept us engaged even during the most complex of books, and the casual learning atmosphere encouraged the expression of our ideas and thoughts on the works. The kindness and positive energy you bestowed on all of your students created a supportive learning environment which fostered self-growth, laughter and engaging conversation.
If we are down or ready to give up on something, the members of the class of 201 1 will always remember the most valuable lesson you taught us. There is nothing wrong with taking a break, surrounding oneself with nature, breathing in deeply, and spending time enjoying life in its purest form. We appreciate all you have done for us and would like to show our gratitude by dedicating our yearbook to you!
