With thirteen minutes left in the fourth quarter Fernando Ramirez scored a goal which made all the work and perspiration expended during the season pay off. Not only did this goal bring the team the state championship; it also marked the end of Wardlaw’s most successful soccer season ever.
Coach Howard Freeman stressed team work as an essential for victory and, re membering this at gametime, the team excited its fans by displaying a superb command of all aspects of play. Captains Mike Pearson and Jeff Robson instilled a spirit that infected everyone. Eric Lathrop was elected M.V.P. while Chris Solt, who kicked a school record of 26 goals, received the Coach's Award. ____
