 ELEMENTARY PRIZE POEM
A Fish
One bright moonlight night,
When everybody should be asleep, Out of the deep blue sea
There rose a fish
Of monstrous size.
I know because I saw it.
Now this great fish
Rolled and cavorted In the deep blue sea
From moonrise till sunrise.
At the first ray of sunrise this queer fish disappeared I know because I saw it.
Constance A nderson, ’4 1 . The Passionate Broker to His Love
Oh, come with me and be my love, And from a penthouse high above
The Hudson, we will gaze below Upon the buildings, row on row.
Oh, come with me and be my wife, And we will lead the dashing life;
While there are still such things as stocks, You shall be clothed in Paris frocks.
Oh, marry me, I beg you, please! And you shall have a Pekingese;
Two chaffeurs shall rub up the sheen Upon your Cadillac Sixteen.
Oh, if you’ll come and live with me. Your jewels shall be from Tiffany;
And never shall your blond head ache With woeful tales of Ticker-Tape.
