December 1, 1988 marked the evening of the Korean Festival Night, where students, faculty, parents, and alumni came to the Lower School to share in an evening of Korean foods and workshops. The event started off with the Korean National Anthem, a poetry recital, song, and dance — all performed by W-H students. An authentic dinner was catered by a Korean restaurant featuring the standard Kimchee, squid and beef dishes and numerous dumplings. A boutique of Korean gift items proved popular and helped contribute to the profits. Display booths were set up with everything from a Chrisanbop demonstration to Korean calligraphy and Korean masks. The evening was then topped off by a martial arts demonstration. The success of the first GAP project was largely due to high attendance and support by students and faculty alike.
