HIS year Glee Club tryouts were held at the end of October, a week or so later than usual on account of the late opening of school. Miss Hewes and the officers, Jean Smithers, president, Mary Bridges, vice' president, and Janet Alison, secretary-treasurer, selected several good voices
for admittance, so that now the club is composed of about forty members. Practices likewise were late in starting; hence the concert, usually held before the Easter holidays, is to be given at some as yet undetermined date soon after them. Certainly this time is very convenient since it does not interfere with pre-vacation activities or with preparations for the Fair, and it is perhaps doubly so since we are going to sing in the morning
instead of the evening.
We expect that this concert will be especially interesting in that we are presenting a program of folksongs of different countries, two of each
These different songs will, we are hopeful, show a pleasant
—for still more contrast—there will also be a group of modern popular tunes.
Miss Hewes has tried so very hard to train us well, and Mrs. Bender plays so beautifully, that it should not be at all difficult to make the day
we sing a day to be remembered.
