The Banquet, 1929
Last year the Athletic Association held its Annual Banquet on the evening of Friday, May twenty-fourth, under the management of Miss Jenkins, Gertrude Olsen, the President, and Jean Robison, the Banquet
Chairman. In honor of the occasion the auditorium was decorated with
streamers of green and yellow paper and balloons, and the corners were
banked with green leaves. The tables, as usual, were in the form of the letter H.
During the dinner our charming toastmistress, Cornelia Mclntire, gave toasts to our guests, to several of our members, and to the guest of honor. Miss Edgett, who replied with a delightful speech. Afterwards,
Miss Hartridge awarded the various emblems and letters to girls on the winning teams, the tennis cup to Cornelia Suydam, and a banner to the
Green Team, for the greatest number of points for the year.
After the awards, the seniors entertained us with a series of amusing tableaux depicting Hartridge classes, teams, and graduation in the regalia of the “gay nineties,” the evening ending with dancing. The banquet brought to a close a most successful athletic season.
